Should Want Need Must

There is an escalation process that takes place whenever we decide to do something. It goes like this; I should do this. -> I want to do this! -> I need to do this! -> I must do this! Can you hear the change in tone of voice in the progression? I suggest you deal with your shoulds and wants quickly and decide whether to upgrade them to needs and musts or else park them on the side or forget about them.

Ideas And Problem Solving

When you are trying to solve a problem through creative problem solving usually the first couple of ideas are pretty obvious. Don't stop there! The best way to generate a good idea is to generate many ideas. I like the old mind quiz where you have to figure out fifty ways you can use a clay brick (or a paper clip). The ideas you get after the first twenty are usually very creative and much more interesting.

Dreams Aligned With Values

To succeed there has to be alignment between your activities and ambitions, your will and your values or you considerably lower your probability of success. Let your inner world interconnect with your outer world. Let your dreams provide you with direction, your values alignment as a compass and let your goals be milestones you visit on your way. Align your heart and mind and go to work on it!

Don't Worry What Others Think

Most people agree we should not upset or harm others, yet few people ever think about how they come across to others. I consider common courtesy and politeness a sign of good upbringing and self awareness a sign of personal maturity. When all this is said I submit you don't need to be overly concerned about what others think when you make your choices as long as you are aware of their impact. Don't worry too much about what other people think of you - because they hardly ever do!

New Year's Resolutions

Most people fail to hold on to their new year's resolutions because they never make the necessary changes in behavior in order to reach them. To be successful with any resolution you are going to depend on your will to help you reach it. To obtain cooperation from your will, you will have to be very clear and specific. Ask why it is important for you to reach this goal, be specific about the target and decide exactly what you are going to do differently because of it.

Be Very Good At A Few Things

I have noticed that successful people, when success is measured as fame or fortune, usually are talented in one or two areas of their lives whereas they are average or even appalling in other areas of endeavor. The trick here is that they play their strongest card. Ask yourself; where can I perform to distinction? Play it to your strength and become very good at a few things.

First State Of Mind

There is a difference between being broke and being poor. Broke is a state of pocket, poor is a state of mind. Do you see yourself as a success going somewhere to happen, rather than a failure, viewing your mistakes as feedback as long as you don't quit? The way we view ourselves says a lot about us. Your self image, how you see yourself will always set a tone in every situation and relationship you are involved in. Work on your state of mind to improve your state of affairs.
